We're very excited to announce the following plan for our second year of preparing and delivering Christmas Dinners to people and families who might otherwise not have the means or other support to enjoy a Christmas Dinner whose main ingredient is Love. Following is our plan for the 2024 Christmas Season:
- The BIG event - the deliveries to our recipients will be on Saturday, December 21st. Although ideally we'd be delivering on the 23rd but given that is a Tuesday and many of our volunteers would not be able to be a part of this because of work - we made the decision to deliver the meals on Saturday the 21st so more volunteers would be able to participate in the most fun part of the entire process - actually delivering the meals and seeing the joy they're giving their fellow man. It's especially powerful for our kids to get to be a part of this - seeing how the less fortunate of us live can be quite eye opening and even quite motivating to them to want to do more for our fellow man.
- We will begin cooking the main course during the week leading up to the deliveries but we have already begun preparing some of Patty's special Hors d'Oeuvres.
- Those of you who have already offered to bake cookies - we will need the cookies to be dropped off by Thursday, December 19th. For anyone else who would also like to make cookies, please just let us know so that we have a fairly accurate count of how many cookies we'll have to pack in the Christmas Cookie tins and distribute. And for anyone who would simply like to help somehow - you can use this link to sign up to bake cookies or volunteer to make deliveries - whatever way you'd like to be involved and support the PCK mission would be very much appreciated by all of us at PCK and of course our recipients.
- This year all of the boxes will be pre-packed and marked with both the PCK delivery team name on it as well as the recipients name. When the delivery miracle workers arrive at the staging site, which will again be at St. Ignatius Church's meeting room, all they will have to do is grab their deliveries and can get on the road. But please know that you're certainly welcome to come early and stay as long as you like talking with old and new friends...we'll have drinks and baked goods there for everyone to enjoy.
- We have a small team of family and friends who will begin packing the boxes on Friday the 20th. All of the boxed food will be stored in a refrigerated truck that we have reserved for this event.
- Now we're ready for the REAL FUN! We will be gathering at St. Ignatius Church Meeting Room at 11am on Saturday, December 21. Volunteers can get there anytime around that time (or earlier if you'd like) to get your boxes and the names and addresses of your new friends. We will once again keep your deliveries within very close proximity to each other so the actual deliveries should take less than an hour - that is unless you are invited inside and end up spending some time making otherwise very lonely people come alive with the excitement of just having a visitor, not to mention a visitor bringing them a Christmas Dinner filled with Love!
- That's it - that's the plan. It'll be smoother this year...it'll be even more fun this year...it'll leave your heart bursting with even more Love this year!
So Merry Christmas to all and to all a good Life filled with Love - that's what PCK is all about!
